About Us

We are Colleen and Brianna, the mother/daughter duo behind Like Mother Like Daughter, and years of beautifying on a budget has made us believers!

We Believe:
  • that good design doesn't have to be expensive.
  • in finding inspiration in the things we love, to create a home that in turn inspires us.
  • in the power of spray paint...lots of spray paint.
  • that your homes should be a unique and individual reflection of you.
  • that sometimes you just have to have ice cream for lunch.
  • that a penny saved truly is a penny earned.
  • in re-purposing old belongings into new treasures.
  • that there isn't much that a good coat of mascara and a little DIY therapy can't cure.
  • in being the best versions of ourselves.
  • in looking at things not as they are, but for what they can be.

A Little Bit About Us:

As a mother/daughter team, we share more than just a last name and an obvious love for home decor. Our keen eye for potential and obvious affinity for the thrifty and fabulous has made it easy for us to put our heads together to bring great design tips to you. Our frugal nature extends beyond that, into our fashion sense, beauty secrets, and our respect for the ever sought after coupon. Aside from that, we love crafting, and are both major foodies, who turn every event (or even just family dinner) into an gourmet food fest! Having so much in common has made us fortunate enough to call each other not just family, but close friends. But enough about us as a pair, there are two of us afterall...

Hi, this is Colleen. As a mother of 6 and a grandmother or 4, family is everything to me! Whether it be cooking in the kitchen as wanna-be gourmets, playing games or just making one another laugh, my perfect day is spent together. In addition to my obvious love of home decor and DIY, I love all things creative and beautiful. I enjoy crafting, scrapbooking (well, technically I enjoy collecting the supplies and imagining I will one day use them to scrapbook), fashion, and sending creative packages to my son who is currently serving a mission. I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to work with children throughout 7 congregations in my church calling; and I'm inspired by them frequently. A typical date night for my husband and I often includes trying a new restaurant (a favorite hobby) and roaming the aisles of a home improvement store. The smell of lumber makes me giddy.

Brianna here! I'm a 24 year old cosmetologist working in Boise, Idaho. I work on the side at an assisted living facility, where I also do hair, and I love working with my little old ladies...they keep me young! I live for spoiling my only child (a beautiful pitbull mix named Macy), as well as spending time with my family, hanging out with my friends, and nerding out with my boyfriend of a year and a half.  I love art, the outdoors, and am always looking for the next opportunity to attend performances of all my favorite bands, and those rare but wonderful chances I get to travel. I enjoy making improvements on my fixer-upper, my frequent retail therapy sessions, and though not usually a "girly girl," I will take any excuse I can to get dressed up.

Being ordinary women, with ordinary lives (and budgets!), we have learned to find inspiration in unlikely places, to take ordinary things, and ordinary spaces, and turn them into an extraordinary home. From a fabulous thrift store find, to a penny saving DIY project, we will teach you how to give new life and style to the old to make it new again. Our combined years of experience (and admittedly, some trial and error) have equipped us with the tools that every homemaker, new and established, can use to transform their houses into homes, and we'd like to pass these on to you. So stick around as we teach you that improving your home can be not only simple and affordable, but it can be fun!

We've taken our love for each other, combined it with our love for good design, and now we want to share the love with you!
